Arlington residents will soon be able to work out and check out a book at the same location.

The East Library and Recreation Center opens Monday at 1817 New York Avenue at Bob Cooke Park with a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting event and tour of the 47,249-square-foot facility. City leaders including Mayor Jeff Williams, state Rep. Chris Turner and Parks & Recreation Director Lemuel Randolph will speak, according to a city news release.

The $26 million project, which was approved by voters in a 2014 bond election, will have a library that is just over 8,500 square feet and include an outdoor “innovation zone” designed by UT-Arlington graduate students….
